We are very happy that Bugge Wesseltoft is our festival artist this year. He has made so many different and innovative things that we could easily program a separate festival for it. We danced, swooned, laughed and cried to his music. And during this edition of the Nordic Jazz Festival he will, among other things, give a solo concert.

Bugge is from 1964 and has been playing in various bands since he was 16 years old. His musical education mainly consists of self-study, hard work, practical experience and a generous spirit. He has never received formal music training and this gives him the freedom to look for new musical directions without any preconceived notions. This led to the establishment of its own label (Jazzland), one of the most acclaimed Norwegian jazz bands (New Conception of Jazz), countless collaboration projects, beautiful albums, film music, prestigious awards and prizes.

Did you know that the leader of VPRO's Zomergasten is also from Bugge Wesseltoft?   

And have you perhaps seen the Netflix series Jule storm? Where in episode 5 on 18m45s Bugge Wesseltoft plays a beautiful version of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'... tears and goosebumps!
