Tord Gustavsen & Trygve Seim

Tord Gustavsen and Trygve Seim are both big names in Norwegian music.
Tord has been at the top of our wish list since the first ideas about the Nordic Jazz Festival. He is a pianist who has many wonderful projects and collaborations on his name. Including an impressive list of albums, a large part of which has been released by the renowned ECM label. 'De Volkskrant' once wrote that 'he touches the keys 'almost apologetically' which nicely describes how subtly he can play. Last summer we heard how more than 1800 people held their breath at the same time in a sold-out cathedral in Trondheim when he and Nils Petter Molvaer sometimes played whisper quiet there.
This year he is coming to Wageningen with the characteristic saxophonist Trygve Seim, who was already there in the first edition of our festival with The Source. They also showed that a tiny bit of air blown just right, can stir up the entire large hall. Trygve Seim also makes albums at the ECM-label. His debut album 'Different Rivers' from 2000 even was selected as one of ECM's 50 milestones during their 50th anniversary. A much greater compliment is hardly imaginable.
Together Tord and Sygve will present an interpretation of Bach chorales that you have never experienced before. Read here the interview with the Brussels stage Bozar in which Tord Gustavsen explains their motivation.
